This Warranty Agreement and Service Terms & Conditions document is intended for adult woodworkers who seek to have their Shopsmith headstock repaired to original factory specifications without complications.

About Who is Doing the Repair 

As a retired NASA engineer with over 30 years of experience restoring and rebuilding Shopsmith machines, I am committed to providing the highest quality repair services. My goal is to rebuild your machine to its optimal condition, ensuring it looks and functions like new. My passion is to help you enjoy using your Shopsmith safely for many years to come. If you have a sentimental attachment to your machine beyond its utilitarian function, please inform me upfront so I can handle it with the utmost care. Please note, as an old, retired NASA engineer, I do Shopsmith repair to keep my mind active. I have limited tolerance for unnecessary drama or unreasonable demands.

Warranty Agreement

We guarantee 100% customer satisfaction and are dedicated to resolving any issues that may arise during the repair process. Our straightforward warranty agreement and service terms & conditions are written in clear and concise language to avoid misunderstandings and save both parties time, frustration, and money.

Warranty Coverage

Our warranty covers two types of repair conditions:

A. Repaired Headstock:

  • Your repaired headstock is covered for 1 year for parts and labor starting from the day you receive your machine.

  • Any damage during shipping is covered by FedEx ground insured shipping.

  • If your machine needs repair during the warranty period, simply contact us to obtain an RMA number and ship it back for a free repair. You are only responsible for shipping costs.

  • This warranty does not cover the electrical motor unless the motor was repaired with the headstock.

  • If the electric motor was repaired during the same time as the headstock, it is covered for 90 days from the day it was received by the customer.

  • There is no warranty for any other electrical components since parts can fail due to age, voltage spikes, lightning strikes, shop wiring issues, etc.

  • This warranty is void if you tamper with or make any unauthorized disassembly or adjustments to the machine without my approval or guidance.

  • You are responsible for the shipping cost.

B. Replacement Headstock:

  • If you purchase a replacement headstock, it is covered by a 1-year warranty on mechanical parts and a 90-day warranty on the electrical motor from the day you receive it.

  • Contact us to obtain an RMA number and ship it back for a free repair. You are only responsible for shipping costs.

Service Terms & Conditions

A. Repairable Headstock:

  • Following the inspection, we will contact you to inform you of the findings and provide you with a quotation for either repair or replacement.

  • Upon receiving your instructions regarding machine repair or replacement with a refurbished unit, we kindly request a deposit to initiate the process.

  • You can submit your deposit by check or online.

  • In the event we do not receive your deposit within five business days, we will attempt to contact you to confirm its receipt.

  • If we do not receive a response from you within 30 days of the inspection date, we will assume you have opted not to repair or replace the machine and will proceed with recycling the old components accordingly.

B. Unrepairable Headstock:

If the headstock or motor is determined to be unrepairable after inspection, we will contact you to inform you of the issue. You will then have two options:

  1. Return Shipment: We can repackage and box the headstock parts or motor for a flat service fee of $125,
    plus, the cost of shipping it back to you.

  2. Recycling: If you prefer, we can recycle the headstock parts at no additional cost to you.

If we do not receive a response from you within 30 days of the inspection date, we will assume you have chosen recycling and proceed accordingly.

C. Replacement Parts:

  1. If you wish to return a replacement part, call us to request an RMA number.

  2. Return the part in its original condition within 15 days of receiving it.

We will credit your payment method for the item cost less shipping charges, with a 15% restocking fee.

D.  10% Discount:

10% Discount apply only to rebuild and shipping. It does not apply to refurbished units.

Governing Law:

Our warranty agreement and service terms & conditions are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, El Paso County.
